Condition Report For Lot# 859 :
case with losses to gilt and silvered surfaces, front glass with loss at lower left, minute hand repaired, movement with minor staining, running, striking and repeating correctly, alarm will function with minor adjustment, gong with specks of oxide. A small group of clocks with similar decoration survive, though no two are identical. One example illustrates scenes from "Gullivers Travels", and is illustrated in "A Century of Fine Carriage Clocks" by Fanelli, pages 62 & 63. Two others were sold with the Antelis collection, Christies, South Kensington, 11/26/98, lots 152 & 153. The clock is the focus of an article in the February, 2006 issue of the NAWCC bulletin, by Richard Perlman. The cases for these clocks may have been made in British Burma or Malaya, for domestic consumption.
