Condition Report For Lot# 249 :
the case retains its original finish. There is one spur absent from original whale's tail top. The hood door has had the hinges removed and swingout hinges added, one of which is absent. There is a vertical age split in base. The finials are incorrect and are actually period pillar & scroll finials. The weights are replacements. The cast iron plates are typical of the Rogers family and other Quaker Maine clockmakers of the early 19th century. Please see Joseph Katra's "Clockmakers & Clockmaking in Maine 1770- 1900" page 50 for a similar example.
