Commodore Owen Connor Straun Robertson began his maritime career as a merchant marine, and joined the Royal Canadian Navy as a reservist in 1932. Among his many accomplishments were navigating the Northwest Passage as Commanding Officer of the HMCS Labrador, appointment to senior Canadian naval officer in Washington, D.C., and his invitation aboard the USS Seadragon to assist in the first submerged transit through the Passage in 1960.
