Condition Report For Lot# 338 :
Mahogany case in nice refinished condition with minor dings. Original scrolls are unbroken and skirt and feet appear original. A later door knob has been removed, but the original lock remains. Both glasses are replaced and the lower one repainted with a Chinese scene often found on these clocks. The lower backboard with bell and very decent Seth Thomas label survive as do the two inside hanging pulleys. The upper backboard is absent as it was the backboard of the original 4- train wooden movement which is also absent. No dial or hands, but three turned wooden mahogany finials which have been seen on other Seth Thomas off- center clocks and we believe are period. This may be one of the last off center cases as the label as written in ink in period handwriting is "January 12, 1825".
