Condition Report For Lot# 1135 :
this is a better-than-average example, with the clock face showing in the scene's church steeple. The unsigned painting portrays a riverside village with a fisherman, etc., and has been nicely repaired long ago with a few patches on the reverse side. The signed thread-suspension movement strikes on a gong and also actuates the very nice sounding large music box mounted above which has selector switches accessed through a brass plate on the side of the case. One sticker lists the four tunes; the smaller round one advertises a clockmaker in Brugge. We were able to produce a slow melody, but service will be needed on both movements, and their linkages. The frame has its gilding mostly intact, and measures 22" x 27"
