DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 2 (Two) (1) Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn., "Regulator No. 2" wall clock, 8 day, time only, weight driven movement in an oak case with painted metal dial, spade hands and subsidiary seconds, c1894. (2) Germany, wall hanging box clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring-driven movement in a dark oak case with white enamel dial, and blued steel spade hands.
CONDITION: (1) Oak veneered case has an alligatored finish and many veneer loses. Center of bottom bracket is missing. Original wavy glass on the door and bezel. Painted metal dial is flaking below the Seth Thomas name and has many areas where the white ground has been in-painted. Hands and pendulum appear to be correct. Comes with the correct weight, but the hook has broken off and the base cap is absent. The fundamentals are here for a restoration of the more cosmetic elements. (2) Case is in good condition with a small split below the dial. Enamel dial is fine, as are the hands. Brass pendulum bob has a nice patina. Pendulum rod looks old, but is a much lighter color. Dimensions are for Seth Thomas. Sold "as is".

DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 2 (Two) Advertising wall clocks, 8 day, time only, spring driven : (1) New Haven Clock Co., Lucky Strike advertising clock with tablet reading "Bragg, Cummings and Co. Bangor, ME.", c1900. (2) Ansonia Clock Co., New York, advertising clock in dark wood case with dial reading "HOT COFFEE", c1900.
CONDITION: (1) clock retains its original finish, dial, hands, and gold leafed advertising tablet. The dial has some losses and discoloration, however is original, with some touch-up to the lettering in advertising section. (2) The finish on the case has turned quite dark obscuring the wood type, which may be rosewood veneer. There is some white wall paint near back edges of the case. The dial is replaced as is the door glass. Lower portion of case will need to be glued. Dimensions are for the finish (1) .

DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 2 (Two) Becker Freischwingers: (1) Gustav Becker, Freiberg, Germany, free swinger wall clock, 8 day, time and gong strike, spring driven movement in an oak Altdeutsch style case with silvered dial, c1904. (2) Gustav Becker, Freiberg, Germany, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven movement in a walnut veneered Altdeutsch style case with silvered dial and fancy cast brass pendulum, c1896.
CONDITION: (1) The case has a very nice original finish. Fancy pendulum is very good. Movement is stamped with the Becker logo with the word "Silesia" below and "P42". A very nice example. (2) Case with a good original finish. Small trim piece missing below top right finial. Slight darkening of silvered dial. Elaborate cast pendulum has a bit of polishing residue. Maker's stamp on the rear movement plate was struck poorly, but obviously Becker. Movement serial number 1329417. Dimensions are for number (2) .

DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 2 (Two) Becker Freischwingers: (1) Gustav Becker, Freiberg, Germany, freischwinger wall clock, 8 day, time and gong strike, spring driven movement in an walnut veneered Altdeutsch style case, c1890. (2) Kienzle, Schwenningen, Germany, freischwinger, 8 day, time and gong strike, spring driven movement in a walnut veneered Altdeutsch style case, c1910.
CONDITION: (1) Case has good original finish with some worn areas at the corners of the molding. Two small rosettes are missing from the lower portion. Movement is stamped with the Becker logo and the word "Silesia" and "P48". The movement is oily. (2) Case has an old finish. The crest is old, but did not start life with this case. It is missing a finial and a rosette. Celluloid dial has yellowed, but looks good that way. Movement is stamped with the Kienzle winged logo and German patent number (147023): Movement is dirty. Dimensions are for the Kienzle (2) .

White / Boston" below the center arbor, blued steel spade hands, movement serial number 22497B, c1919. (2) Chelsea Clock Co., Boston, Mass., 8 day, time only, spring driven movement with a jeweled lever escapement in a brass case with screw-on bezel, signed 6 inch silvered dial with subsidiary seconds, blued steel Breguet style hands, movement serial number 111751, c1917.
CONDITION: (1) Brightly polished brass case is in excellent condition. Silvered dial is bright with only the slightest tarnish. Blued steel hands are good. The serial number on the back of the brass case matches the number stamped on the back plate of the movement. Diminutive round movement is stamped "Boston Clock Co." Movement ticks briskly. (2) Warm, but slightly uneven patina on brass case. Silvered dial is good with a few small dark spots on the right side. A few small spots of the black lettering are missing. Small amount of oxidation on steel hands. Serial number on the back of the case matches the one stamped in the movement. Movement ticks briskly.

DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 2 (Two) Ceramic and Onyx: (1) Ansonia Clock Co., New York, "Raleigh" 3 piece garniture set, 8 day, time and strike, spring-driven movement with visible Brocot escapement in a white onyx architectural case fitted with cast gilt ornaments with neoclassical motifs. Two matching ewer-form sidepieces of white onyx, c1895. (2) Japy Freres, Paris, for Duverdrey et Bloquel, mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring-driven pendule de Paris movement in a ceramic case with yellow background, polychrome floral images, and gilt highlights, white enamel dial with blued steel hands.
CONDITION: (1) White onyx case is in good condition with virtually no chips to the edges. Gilding has worn off of some of the applied ornaments. Escapement has stone pallet jewels. proper Ansonia pendulum. Movement ticks and strikes, but was not tested long term. (2) The ceramic case dates to the turn of the century and was at some point fitted with a much older French movement with a silk thread suspension. The cause is in good condition with some craquelure to the glaze. Signed Japy movement ticks and strikes, but was not tested long term. Dimensions are for the clock with onyx case. Sold "as is".

DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 2 (Two) French Black Mantel: (1) H.P. & Co., Paris, black mantel clock, 8 day, time and bell strike, spring driven pendule de Paris movement with exposed Brocot escapement in a black slate tambour-form case with incised floral patterns and green malachite accents, white enamel dial ring with Roman numerals, and black Roman style steel hands, c1900. (2) France, clock case only, black slate architectural case with stepped, molded base, two sets of three fluted columns flanking the central opening for the dial, pediment with incised designs and low relief frieze depicting Alexander the Great making his triumphal return to Babylon, c1890.
CONDITION: (1) Very few tiny chips to the edges of the slate case. Gold coloring inside of incised lines has faded. Beveled glass, enamel dial, and hands are excellent. The pallet jewels have been replaced with steel. The movement, stamped on the back plate, ticks but does not strike. (2) One chip about half an inch long on the front lower right side of the base. Gold color within the incised design is nearly gone. The gilding has worn off of the fluted columns. Two drilled holes on the front of the base suggest a missing ornament or plaque. The frieze is taken from a well-known historical work. Dimensions are for the architectural case (2): These items are heavy and fragile for shipping.

DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 2 (Two) French Brass and Glass: (1) Japy Freres & Cie., Paris, crystal regulator, 8 day, time and gong strike, spring-driven pendule de Paris movement with double-vial pendulum in a glazed case with beveled glasses, gilt brass corners, top and bottom, 3.5 inch cream porcelain dial with Arabic numerals and blued steel hands. (2) France, carriage clock, 8 day, time only, spring-driven movement in a glazed case with beveled glasses on five sides, polished brass case with handle on top, white enamel dial with Arabic numerals, and blued steel spade hands.
CONDITION: (1) The lacquer protecting the metal case parts has turned brown. Beveled glasses are good. The porcelain dial is in excellent condition, though missing one brass grommet around a winding arbor hole. The movement ticks and strikes. (2) Brass case has a somewhat dark patina with a few very dark spots. There is a small chip in the lower right corner of the front glass. The dial and hands are in very good condition. The movement was recently serviced and ticks briskly. The platform looks like a newer replacement.

Marti et Cie., Paris, mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring-driven pendule de Paris movement with rack strike on a coil gong in a black slate architectural case with four half columns of variegated red marble flanking a gilt brass dial with Arabic numerals, the case topped with a matching marble pediment. (2) France for Alex M. Hayes Co., New York, mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring-driven square French movement in a black slate case with flanking shelves and six polychrome tiles featuring birds and flowers, 4 inch black slate dial with Roman numerals and gold hands.
CONDITION: (1) The finish on the black slate case has many small gray dots. In addition to many small chips to the bottom front edge, there is a larger loss of slate on the upper left side. The numbers on the dial are slightly worn and the hands have some oxidation. The signed Marti movement ticks and strikes, but was not tested long term. (2) The unusual and attractive case made of black slate has a very few small chips to the edges. The polychrome tile above the dial has a few breaks that were repaired poorly. The black slate dial is in excellent condition. The two rear brass feet are not original. The unsigned movement ticks and strikes, but was not tested long term. Dimensions provided are for the architectural case. These clocks are heavy and fragile if shipping is a consideration. Sold "as is".

(2) France, Morbier or Comtoise clock, 8 day, time and strike with prayer repeat, weight driven crown wheel escapement, pressed brass dial surround, enamel dial reading "Robert Langrand / St. Florentin", (seller, not maker) pendulum with addorsed brass birds over brass pendulum disk, c1840.
CONDITION: (1) Case is in very nice condition. Some fine cracks in the black finish of the dial surround. Dial is good with just a bit of yellowing between the winding arbors. Square French movement. (2) Dial has many fine hairline cracks in the upper left. Floral design on dial is vibrant and signature very legible. Brass dial surround is in very good condition. The pendulum bob has many small dents and one long stain in the middle. Modern iron wall bracket is included to hang the clock. Dimensions are for bakery clock (1) .

DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 2 (Two) German Free Swingers: (1) Carl Werner Uhrenfabrik, Villingen, Germany, "freischwinger" wall clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven movement in an oak case with turned and carved ornaments, fancy brass pendulum, c1890. (2) Germany, freischwinger wall clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven movement in a walnut case with applied brass ornaments, c1900.
CONDITION: (1) The oak case has been well cleaned and waxed. The silver has been scrubbed off the dial, leaving behind brass. There is a bit of tarnish on the pendulum bob behind the pierced center. Signed movement reads "Konkurrenz" with Werner's horse shoe trademark. (2) Case with a nice original finish. Applied ornaments missing from both sides of the crest and one turned piece is broken. Nice patina on brass pendulum and dial mask. Porcelain section of dial is very good, as are the hands. The unsigned movement has a recoil escapement. Dimensions are for the Carl Werner clock (1) .

(2) Kienzle, Schwenningen, Germany, mantel clock, 8 day, time and gong strike, spring-driven movement in an oak case with bun feet, supporting a cavetto molded base, full twist pillars flanking a carved floral design, topped by a broken arch, 5 inch painted metal dial depicting the Greek myth of Demophon and Phyllis as conceived by Edward Burne-Jones in his painting from 1882 titled "The Tree of Forgiveness", c1925.
CONDITION: (1) The case is nicely made, with brass string inlay, but a bit of the inlay is lifting. There are a few age splits and top dents. The paper dial is later and worn; the thin brass bezel encloses flat glass. The square movement with lantern pinions and heavy brass plates ticks and strikes. (2) The case has an original finish with a bit of a haze on the top arch. The painted metal dial is in excellent condition and looks to be hand-painted. The movement ticks and strikes, but is dirty and will need cleaning. Bezel has been repaired at the hinge. Dimensions are for the Kienzle. CONDITION: (1) cracked throat tablet (2) case in nice condition in an old finish has a small raised area at the hinge screws on the bottom door. The tablets are done on old glass, but not original. The throat tablet near the top is cracked and repaired. Original painted dial has loss at the mounting pins and surface stains. Original hands. Original well made movement. The pendulum rod is a piece of half-round brass riveted to the keystone and the pendulum support. The rod looks to be original although there are holes in the keystone and pendulum support for a threaded round iron rod. Measurements are of (2)

Marsh Co., Chicago, IL, 8 day, time only, twin-spring balance wheel movement in a brass case with hinged bezel, 8 inch silvered dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, and steel spade hands. (2) Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn., for American Steam Gauge & Valve Co., Boston, Mass., 8 day, time only, twin-spring balance wheel movement in a brass case with hinged bezel, 8 inch silvered dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, and black steel spade hands.
CONDITION: (1) The James P. Marsh Company of Skokie, Illinois started in 1865 as a producer of industrial instruments. The heavy case has some tarnish over the once bright polished brass. The silvered metal dial has some light tarnish and the engraved Marsh name. Someone sought to regulate the clock by extending the arc cut in the dial at the 12:00 position. The twin-spring Seth Thomas movement ticks. (2) The lacquer on the heavy brass case has started to turn brown and spotty. The silvered dial is in decent shape with some tarnish and fine scratches around the winding arbor holes. The center arbor is slightly bent. The bezel glass is missing. The movement ticks but will need mechanical attention.

DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 2 (Two) Unusual Mantel: (1) France, Empire portico clock, long duration, time and bell strike, spring-driven movement with pinwheel escapement, vernier beat adjustment, and center seconds in a four-column ebonized case with applied gilt ornaments, silvered dial, and blued steel hands, c1830. (2) GermaNew York, Horolovar / Clocktrade Enterprises, Bronxville, New York, reproduction Briggs rotary timepiece, 8 day, time only, spring-driven movement with conical pendulum on a turned wood base with brass feet, all under a glass dome, number 957 of 2000, c1975.
CONDITION: (1) The dial and hands are replacements from a much later lower quality clock. The pendulum is from a Victorian era clock and is missing the face of the bob. The oversized round movement has been converted from knife-edge to suspension spring. The current suspension spring is broken. Despite these flaws, this finely made movement is original to the case and could be properly restored. (2) Very good original condition with original glass dome. Clock runs, but was not tested long term. Dimensions are for the portico clock. Sold "as is".

DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 2 (Two) Unusual: (1) S. Marti, Paris, France, triple dial perpetual calendar mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike with barometer on second dial, third dial showing month, day of the month, day of the week, age of the moon, and leap year, oversized spring-driven movement with visible Brocot escapement in a large black slate case with green malachite accents. (2) Sessions Clock Co., Forestville, Conn., for Philco, Philadelphia, "Philco Transitone Model 53-707", electric clock, radio, and lamp, in a wood case with fabric covered door over radio controls, c1957.
CONDITION: (1) The black slate case has suffered some major damage especially on the top and back. A repair was attempted, but there are substantial losses, cracks, and gaps. Beveled glasses and dials are undamaged. The movement escapes and the calendar advanced during our brief test. The pendulum has been repaired and the suspension spring will need to be replaced. This clock is extremely heavy and fragile, if shipping is a consideration. (2) The clock and radio were not tested. Dimensions provided are for the French clock. Sold "as is".

CONDITION: (1) Case has been refinished to a very glossy surface. Door with split in the lower right. Some veneer losses to the base. Signed white enamel dial three fine hairline cracks, but is otherwise quite good. Hands are in good condition. One of the side glasses has a small break in the lower corner. Pendulum rod and crest have been repaired. (2) Case has a fairly good original finish. The top of the door is split. Dial is in very good condition. Lower final has been repaired. Female mask on crest has a bit of damage. Pulleys are mismatched. Engraved brass weights are nice, but don't quite match the dial and pendulum Signed movement is serial number 410510. Dimensions are for the Suchy (1) .

CONDITION: (1) Enameled iron case in nice condition has some loss to gilt incised lines. Original enameled dial has a hairline crack at 4 and 6 o'clock. Original hands. Movement is signed. Someone has placed a sheet of aluminum on the bottom that is easily removable. (2) Cast metal case retains some of the original gold and bronze finish. Original porcelain dial is perfect. Original hands. Movement is signed.

CONDITION: (1) Silver has worn from dial, which now appears as almost entirely brass. Some loss of black finish on wood base. The unsigned movement ticks. (2) Back right corner of the case has a corner broken off, though the clock still stands without it. The black paint has flaked off the case, leaving behind dark patches of the cast iron below. The dial paint is largely intact and quite legible. Yellow paint on hands is flaking badly. The small movement, stamped only with "Y", ticks when wound. (3) Brass case has a nice old patina. Two holes on either side of the case top suggest something may be missing. The bezel has one deep dent on the lower right side. The enamel dial is has losses in three places that have been filled with a white material. The unsigned movement ticks. Hands are good. Dimensions are for the largest clock.

DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 3 (Three) Mantel: (1) New Haven Clock Co., New Haven, Conn., sharp gothic or steeple clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven movement in a rosewood veneer case with a painted metal dial and silk screened door glass, blued steel hands, c1860. (2) E.N. Welch Mfg. Co., Forestville, Conn., sharp gothic or steeple clock, 8 day, time and bell strike, spring driven movement in a rosewood veneer case with a painted metal dial and silk screened door glass, maltese style hands, c1865. (3) Waterbury Clock Co., Waterbury, Conn., "Iroquois" mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike on cathedral gong, spring driven movement in a pressed oak case with a papered metal dial, silk screened door glass, and maltese hands, c1910.
CONDITION: (1) Dial with craquelure and some lost paint around the winding arbors and mounting screws. A complete, but stained inner label. The case veneer has some minor losses and a repair on the upper left side. Unusual blue door glass with patriotic design. Movement ticks and strikes. (2) Paint on dial is flaking in several places. Veneered case is in very good condition Blue paper label on the inside of case. Reverse painting on glass looks to have been touched up. Movement ticks, but will need mechanical attention. (3) Minute hand is replaced as it is too long. Paper dial with some staining. The case finish has become rough and dark. Pendulum does not match those seen in reference books. The movement requires mechanical attention. Dimensions are for the Waterbury.

DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 3 (Three) Mantel: (1) Zenith, Le Locle, Switzerland, reproduction Neuchatel bracket clock, 8 day, time and strike, tandem spring driven movement in a floral decorated painted wood case. (2) Waltham Clock Co., Waltham, Mass., lancet mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven balance wheel movement in a walnut case with silvered dial reading "J.E. Caldwell & Co.". (3) Shatz, Germany, 400 day or anniversary clock, time only, spring driven movement with torsion pendulum in a brass and glass case.
CONDITION: (1) Case has nicks to paint on the edges. Gilding has worn off of legs in spots. (2) Case with an original finish. Silvered dial somewhat darkened with tarnish. Glass is loose. (3) Lacquer protecting brass has started to turn brown in places. Dimensions are for the Swiss bracket clock (1) .

DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 3 (Three) Time & Strike Wall: (1) Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn., "Banjo No. 7" wall clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven movement in a mahogany case with a silvered brass dial and tablets featuring Thomas Jefferson and Monticello, c1929. (2) New Haven Clock Co., New Haven, Conn., "Waring" banjo clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven movement in a mahogany finish case with a silvered brass dial and reverse painted throat and lower tablet, c1923. (3) Connecticut, Mission style wall clock, 8 day, time and strike, spring driven movement in a dark oak case with applied bronze numerals, brass clad pendulum bob, c1910.
CONDITION: (1) Case with a good finish. Silvered dial worn in several places. Proper "S" and "T" hands. Graphics behind glasses are vibrant. Movement will need mechanical attention. (2) Dark original finish on case. Silvered dial with small scratches around winding arbor holes. Mostly complete paper label on back. The movement ticks and strikes. (3) Original dark finish on oak case. Repaired pendulum. Replaced back. The clock ticks, but the strike side mainspring needs attention. Dark patina on brass hands. Dimensions are for the Waring.
