DESCRIPTION: France or Switzerland, a four color gold verge pocket watch, key wind and set gilt plate movement with pierced and engraved balance bridge, in an 18 karat gold, consular open face case with applied ornament, the back with landscape featuring a monument, a dog and doves, within an oval, foliate frame, and Roman numeral, outer black 5-minute markers white enamel dial, gold Louis XV style hands, 40mm, 56.9g TW, c1780, together with a 20th century button hole chain.
CONDITION: CASE: Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Gold ornament with wear; Precious metal content tested. DIAL: Filled losses around keyhole. HANDS: Good. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor marks and scratches on plate; One screw with spot of oxide; Specks of dirt. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks) .
