DESCRIPTION: E. Howard & Co., Boston, Mass., a gold series lll pocket watch, N size, 15 jewels, key wind and set gilt plate movement with lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, gold timing screws, Reeds safety barrel with maintaining power and Mershon micrometric regulator in an 18 karat, yellow gold, engine turned and engraved hunting case, marked "F.K. & Co.", Roman numeral, single sunk white enamel dial, blued and polished steel spade hands, serial #17587, 132.8g TW, c1865.
CONDITION: CASE: Small, shallow dent at back cover hinge; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Fine scratches on inner surface of case; Bezel with numerous scratches; Engine turning worn smooth; Bezel with notch to clear lift spring; Cover extends beyond 90 degrees when opened, front, 100 deg; Front cover with minor gap at band when closed; Hinges loose; Bow and pendant worn; Pendant with rouge residue; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Spider hairlines, 1:30. HANDS: Oxidation, minute. MOVEMENT PLATES: Fine scratches on plate; Plates darkened and with spotting; Bright work with spots of oxide; Case screw with oxide; Specks of dirt / dust. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks) .
