DESCRIPTION: American Waltham Watch Co, Waltham, Mass., "Riverside Maximus" with wind indicator, 16 size, 23 jewels, stem wind and lever set, adjusted to 6 positions, temperature and isochronism, ornately damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement, diamond endstones, cut bimetallic balance, gold jewel settings, gold timing screws, gold wheel train and whiplash micrometric regulator in a silverode, hinged back and bezel open face case, Arabic numeral, double sunk metal dial, blued steel spade and poker hands, serial #19403039, c1915, with Waltham silk and velvet lined mahogany box.
CONDITION: CASE: Minor dings and pin pricks; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Fine scratches on cuvette; Crystal with a few fine scratches. DIAL: Very good. HANDS: Refinished. MOVEMENT PLATES: Scattered, very fine scratches on plate; Minor loss to blacking in engraving; Specks of dirt / dust. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks) Box with dings and minor scratches. This is a four star watch in Gilbert, Engle and Shugart's `Complete Price Guide to Watches`. This example was sold at Jones & Horan in 2010 for 12,000.00.
