DESCRIPTION: Hamilton Watch Co., Lancaster, Penn., a rare grade "947" pocket watch, 18 size, 23 jewels, stem wind and lever set, adjusted to 5 positions, ornately damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, gold jewel settings, gold timing screws and Goldthwait micrometric regulator in a 14 karat, yellow gold, engine turned and engraved hunting case, the cuvette engraved "J. H. Jordan", and Arabic numeral, outer red 5-minute markers, double sunk white enamel dial, blued steel spade hands, serial #239402, 131.1g TW, c1905.
CONDITION: CASE: Case has housed another movement; Minor dent, front; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Very fine scratches on inner surface of case; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Tiny flake concealed by bezel, 6:00; Minor scratches. HANDS: Minor oxidation. MOVEMENT PLATES: Fine scratches on plate; Tiny spot of corrosion and plating loss; Bright work with minor spots of oxide. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks), low balance amplitude, needs service. A nice example of this rare 18 size Hamilton, total production 310.
