DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 2 (Two) E. Howard Marine Clocks: (1) E. Howard & Co., Boston, Mass., for U.S. Navy, marine lever, 8 day, time only, spring-driven jeweled balance wheel movement in a nickel plated brass case with hinged bezel, 6 inch signed silvered dial reading "U.S. Navy", subsidiary seconds, and blued steel hands, movement serial number 00544. (2) E. Howard & Co., Boston, Mass., "Auxiliary Master Clock", 8 day, time only, spring-driven jeweled balance wheel movement in a brass case with screw-on bezel with electrical terminals, 6 inch signed silvered face with viewing aperture showing cam that closes electrical contact once per minute, movement serial number 00459.
CONDITION: (1) Nickel plating on case is dirty and worn through in places. A segment of the bezel's edge was cut off on the right side and hasp is missing as a consequence. Silvered dial is slightly darkened. Minute hand, seconds bit, and rate adjustment pointer are absent. The movement ticks and stops. A rare clock that could use some mechanical and cosmetic attention. (2) Heavy brass case has a very dark original patina. Silvered dial is in good condition with a hint of tarnish. Glass is loose. Movement ticks. Dimensions are for the master clock.
