DESCRIPTION: Henry Hughes & Son, London, for Royal Air Force, 3.5 inch radius aeronautical sextant, metal frame with black crinkle finish, graduated brass arc with inset silvered scale reading -5 to 120, index arm imprinted with Air Ministry logo of an "AM" under a king's crown and "REF. 6B/177", micrometer drum vernier adjustment multiple shades for index and horizon mirrors, sighting scope with eye shade, walnut handle, all in a finger-jointed mahogany box with accessories and HUSUN certificate dated 1941.
CONDITION: Full complement of accessories include oil, pointed wrench, and box key. Silvered scale has tarnished somewhat. Rubber eye shade has hardened. Sun shades and index mirror are in good condition. Horizon mirror is missing. Very nice condition for a rare artifact. Dimensions are for closed wooden case.
