Lot#: 509

DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 2 (Two) Unusual Mantel: (1) France, Empire portico clock, long duration, time and bell strike, spring-driven movement with pinwheel escapement, vernier beat adjustment, and center seconds in a four-column ebonized case with applied gilt ornaments, silvered dial, and blued steel hands, c1830. (2) GermaNew York, Horolovar / Clocktrade Enterprises, Bronxville, New York, reproduction Briggs rotary timepiece, 8 day, time only, spring-driven movement with conical pendulum on a turned wood base with brass feet, all under a glass dome, number 957 of 2000, c1975.
CONDITION: (1) The dial and hands are replacements from a much later lower quality clock. The pendulum is from a Victorian era clock and is missing the face of the bob. The oversized round movement has been converted from knife-edge to suspension spring. The current suspension spring is broken. Despite these flaws, this finely made movement is original to the case and could be properly restored. (2) Very good original condition with original glass dome. Clock runs, but was not tested long term. Dimensions are for the portico clock. Sold "as is".
ESTIMATE: $500 - $700
DIMENSIONS: 20in x 10.5in x 5.75in
