Lot of nine coin and sterling silver, Terry family tea and table spoons, the first by Wm. Tuller & Co., with basket of flowers handle, and engraved "EA", a set of four marked Wm. Rogers Jr., and engraved "Lerria" and two pair, one by D.H. Buell, the other by E.M. Roberts & Co., all engraved "Terry"
CONDITION: all with minor scratches, wear and tarnish, two with minor spots of corrosion, a few bowls with minor dents. These spoons are from the clockmaking Terry family of Terryville, CT. The one spoon was no doubt engraved for Valeria Fidelia Terry (1855-1867), also called "Lerria" who died at age 11. She was the daughter of James Terry (1823-1871), lock manufacturer, and wife Valeria (Treat) Terry. James was the son of clockmaker Eli Terry, Jr. (1799-1841) after whom Terryville, CT was named. "Lerria" and her parents, grandparents and great grandfather, clockmaker Eli Terry, Sr. (1772-1852) are all buried in the small burying ground behind the Terryville Congregational Church, along with other members of the Terry clan.
