DESCRIPTION: Charles Frodsham, 84 Strand, London, keyless fusee pocket chronometer with wind indicator, 17 jewels, stem wind and pin set, gilt half plate movement with Earnshaw spring detent escapement, free sprung cut bimetallic balance with gold timing screws and helical balance spring in a silver, snap back and bezel, open face case with date letter for the year 1873, and Roman numeral, double sunk, white enamel dial, blued steel spade and whip hands, serial #04767, 57mm.
CONDITION: CASE: Shallow dent, back; Dings, edge of back cover; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Fine scratches on inner surface of case; Minor scratches on crystal; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Restored. HANDS: Good. MOVEMENT PLATES: Scratches on plate; Balance endstone replaced; Detent locking stone replaced with steel pin; Balance spring needs truing. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks) ; Balance rim bent.
