DESCRIPTION: Arnold & Lewis, Late Simmons, 7 St. Anns Square, Manchester, a gold open face "Patent Union Chronometer", 16- 17 jewels, key wind and set gilt 3/4 plate movement with Patent Union Chronometer escapement, combining Robin pallets for locking, the escape wheel delivering impulse directly to the balance every other vibration, in an 18 karat, yellow gold, hinged back and bezel, engine turned open face case with London hallmark and date letter for the year 1870, and Roman numeral, single sunk white enamel dial, gold spade and whip hands, serial #2919, 50mm, 116.9g TW.
CONDITION: CASE: Minor dings; Small ding/dent, bezel; Minor scratches on outer surface of case; Fine scratches on cuvette; Engine turning with moderate wear; Rear cover lift spring broken; Pusher worn; Bow worn; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Hairlines in enamel, 7:30. HANDS: Very good. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor scratches on plate; Small spot near third wheel jewel. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Runs, escapement skips in some positions, needs new balance staff.
