DESCRIPTION: England, for Samuel Hammond, New York, free sprung lever fusee pocket watch with wind indicator, 17 jewels, key wind and set gilt half plate movement with lever escapement, free sprung cut bimetallic balance with gold timing screws and diamond endstone, in an 18 karat, yellow gold, reeded edge, engine turned and engraved hunting case with London hallmark and date letter for the year 1860, and Roman numeral, double sunk, white enamel dial, blued steel spade and whip hands, serial #241, 51mm, 125.9g TW.
CONDITION: CASE: Minor dents; Minor dings and pin pricks; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Fine scratches on inner surface of case; Covers with minor gap at band when closed; Engine turning with moderate wear; Bow worn; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Very good. HANDS: Good. MOVEMENT PLATES: Fine scratches on plate: Marks on balance cock forward of jewelling. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks), low balance amplitude, needs service; Balance cock with provision for regulator, but it appears that it was never fitted, or converted to free sprung early on.
