DESCRIPTION: Gustav Becker, Freiberg, Germany, cartel clock, 8 day, time only, spring driven movement in a walnut veneered case in the second baroque style with carved scrolls and floral elements with a roman numeral silvered brass dial, and pieced blued steel hands.
CONDITION: case has a nicely rubbed down finish with one small veneer loss on the upper left side. Bottom finial will need to be glued. Entire surface of the silvered dial has slightly yellowed. The minute hand was bent, but straightened. Old glass in door, lock has a working key. Signed trapezoidal movement has the Médaille d'Or award stamp and serial number 14099.

CONDITION: frame with minor damage to gesso, losses to gilding, and with gold paint touch up, painting with yellowed varnish and crazing, small tear in canvas, and with three areas patched and inpainted, clock dial misaligned with hole in canvas, movement tick and strikes, music box will play with encouragement, both movements would benefit from service, one hanger missing

DESCRIPTION: Gebrüder Wilde, Villingen, Germany, large "freischwinger", 8 day, time and gong strike, spring driven movement in a walnut case with carved acanthus on the crest and interesting pilasters flanking the door glass, silvered dial with Arabic numerals and pierced blued steel hands.
CONDITION: case has been nicely smoothed down. The lower portions of the case have some worm holes. The veneer has lifted a bit the right side of the door. The gilding on embossed central portion of dial has worn off, but it is otherwise fairly good. Beveled glass is in good condition, as are the hands. Embossed brass pendulum is in good condition Signed "G.W." movement, serial number 40469.

CONDITION: case with rubbed down finish. Repaired break to the base. Wood door frame has a crack in the lower right corner. Door glass is a modern replacement. White enamel dial with Roman numerals is in excellent condition. Top finial with a repaired piece. One leveling foot will need to be reattached to the bottom of the clock. Signed movement with "Remember" trademark.

DESCRIPTION: Ansonia Clock Co., New York, "Huntress" figural swinger, 8 day, time only, spring-driven movement mounted inside a brass sphere with cast ribbon ornament and applied Arabic numerals, Louis XV style hands, held aloft by a patinated spelter figure of a young woman carrying game birds in her other hand, standing on an ebonized cast iron base.
CONDITION: The clock arm is in good original condition, the spheres with discolored lacquer, some tarnish and minor dings, and the cast top ornament with a solder repair on the back. The figure, cast in brass, is a reproduction. That said, it is a fairly convincing one. The added wooden base and presence of lamp hardware suggest that it may have served as a lamp at some point or simply acquired some parts from one. The twisted wire that connects the figure's hand to the birds has been replaced with some steel cable. The stamped movement ticks, but was not tested long term.

DESCRIPTION: Black Forest, Germany, railway house cuckoo clock, 3 day, time and strike with calling cuckoo bird, spring driven two train movement with a single fusee on the strike train in a softwood case with hardwood carvings, white enamel cartouche numerals on the dial, and bone hands.
CONDITION: main structure of building/case appears to be original. The carvings and finials on the front of the clock -- possibly rosewood -- are more recent creations, done by a craftsman with considerable ability. Old cast brass movement is unsigned. Single fusee has steel cable connecting it to the spring barrel. Bellows have been restored with new leather. One of the two whistles has been repapered or replaced. Tip of bone minute hand has been broken off. Though not entirely old, this is a handsome clock.

DESCRIPTION: John Halifax Japanned Bracket Clock, London, with composite brass arch dial, silvered roman numeral chapter ring signed at six o'clock position, "John Halifax/London", recessed date aperture and faux pendulum, regulation dial in the arch, blued steel hands, matted centers and brass spandrels, the molded top case with japanned decoration of a Chinese pagoda and brass carrying handle at the top, dial door with floral decoration and pierced sound frets and sides both backed with red fabric, all resting on short bracket feet, the rear glazed door opens to the eight day, cable fusee, verge escapement movement with rack striking on the hour, back plate fully engraved with centered woman playing a violin, rise and fall pendulum with small brass bob and pendulum holder.
CONDITION: Silvered chapter ring discolored and tarnished, pierced wooden sound frets are replacements, minor losses to japanned decoration, lacking door and winding key. The right return molding is absent. True japanned decoration is only found on dial door and molded top; sides are painted decoration, thus the later date of this clock.

DESCRIPTION: Winterhalder & Hofmeier, Schwarzenbach, Germany, bracket clock, 8 day, time and gong strike with chime playing on eight bells, spring-driven movement in an oak architectural case with fluted pilasters, frieze resembling ashlar, tympanum with carved scroll design, brass dial plate with applied cast spandrels, silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, subsidiary rate adjustment and chime / silent dials, blued steel hands.
CONDITION: The oak case has been rubbed down and has a few old dings and scratches. There are four numbers impressed into the roof on the right side, probably a consequence of someone using it as a writing surface. The roof also has a split that is four inches long on the right back edge. The dial is in very good condition. Red cloth inside side doors is a modern replacement Heavy brass movement is stamped with the W&H trademark. The movement ticks, strikes, and chimes, but was not tested long term.

CONDITION: The oak case has an original finish that has been nicely rubbed down. There are two splits in wood on either side of the roof, one that was repaired. A piece of fretwork from the door on the right side has broken off, but is included for future repair. Small chip to the top of the right pilaster. Cloth behind all three doors is deteriorating. Lock on rear door is missing. The dial has a bit of dark tarnish in the center matte area and silvered chapter ring. The movement ticks, strike, and chimes, but could probably use attention.

CONDITION: dirty, slate with minor flakes and chips, right side of base with crack, right side molding above cavetto with crack, plinth with chips below finial, finial loose, feet loose, front door lower hinge detached from case, upper hinge bent, dial with minor losses to numerals, hands with minor specks of oxide, rear glass with chips and substantial loss at upper right, movement dirty, ticks, strikes, and chimes correctly, pendulum rod replaced. Auguste Ecalle was located at the Palais Royal, Galerie Beaujolais, from 1880- 90. He was known for his work with precision timekeepers and chronometry, and was agent for Dent in Paris.

DESCRIPTION: England, double-sided gallery clock, 8 day, time only, spring-driven fusee movement in a carved walnut case with 11 inch painted metal dials on opposite sides, both with cream background and black Roman numerals, blued steel Paris style spade hands.
CONDITION: The walnut case has an original finish which was maintained through the years or nicely rubbed down. There are two mounting hooks with chains on top for mounting the clock to the ceiling. The door on the bottom of the case to access the pendulum has a lock, but no key. It is currently unlocked. One of the two metal dials is flaking significantly. Some rust on the hands. The well-built movement has nicely finished plates and the original fusee chain. The movement ticks vigorously but was not tested extensively This clock would be an impressive addition to any suitable space.

DESCRIPTION: Modern reproduction skeleton clock, 8 day, time and strike with chime on eight bells, triple fusee spring driven movement in a pierced brass frame mounted on a velvet covered, cavetto molded wood base, all under a glass dome.
CONDITION: brass frame with a small amount of tarnish. Silvered chapter is a bit bent near the 3 o'clock position Fusees have steel cable rather than chain. A lever on the upper right of the clock selects between one of two tunes that play on the quarter hours.

DESCRIPTION: Lenzkirch, AGU, Germany, walnut "Freischwinger", "No. 89", time and quarter hour strike spring driven brass movement wall clock. Serial number 870616. Includes original Lenzkirch winding key. his clock is listed as "No. 89" in their 1901 catalog (see "Lenzkirch Clocks: The Unsigned Story", page 146): We sold one on May 16, 2015 for $2,200.
CONDITION: Walnut case in an old, possibly original finish and in very nice condition. There is a separation at the curved molding on the crest. Original dial has some spotty tarnish and fine scratch lines at the winding arbors. Original hands and pendulum.

CONDITION: Case has an excellent original finish. Enameled dial is in very good condition. Some black paint is flaking off of hands. This clock is shown on page 38 of the book "Lenzkirch Clocks: The Unsigned Story" by George Everett taken from an 1883 Lenzkirch trade catalog. Movement is stamped with serial number 455236.

CONDITION: veneer with minor losses, minor bumps and dings, projecting backboard ornaments flanking balustrade repaired, some applied brass ornaments loose, left side of clock case with split, door with splits visible only on the interior, turned bezel ring split, left return molding above door loose, all ornaments cleaned, pendulum cleaned, chapter ring with minor tarnish and pitting, movement dirty, oily, ticks and strikes, suspension spring broken, movement needs to be moved forward as the dial sits too far back from the door

CONDITION: the case retains an old finish with a small chip to veneer on the lower right block above drop. The dial has hairlines between 6 and 8. The center finial is original. The other five finials and drops are replacements. The pendulum disc has a dent in the center. The key is an original Lenzkirch type.
