Condition Report For Lot# 928 :
Mahogany and mahogany veneered case in an old and possibly original finish. The bottom mahogany panel has an age crack across the middle and smaller one near the bottom with repairs on the backside to help stabilize it. The mahogany veneered head has a shrinkage crack on the hinge and latch sides showing evidence of attempted repairs. Original painted dial is soiled and has some wear to the signature and some loss at the mounting pins. Unusual use of a brass wheel as an aperture for viewing the pendulum. The hands, although unusual for a banjo, look original. Movement is attached to the case with center screw. The plinth and feather finial are modern. This exact clock was pictured in "American Banjo Clocks by Steven Petrucelli and Kenneth Sposato", pg 152.
