Condition Report For Lot# 625 :
Mahogany veneered case in an old finish with loss and repairs on the base. Period dial may not be original as it seems too small for the case. The movement is the proper, however. The screw that holds the leaf springs together is not original. Some of the wagon spring mechanism is missing in clouding the long cast piece that is found under the base to equalize the load on the leaf springs and the rectangular piece found on each end of the main leaf spring that controls the two control arms. Another example of this case with identical tablets in the Henry Ford Museum is shown in Palmer's "Treasury of American Clocks" p. 100. There are no hands or pendulum. Ht 27"; (2) The dial, hands, weights and finials are absent. The movement does not fit this case. The lower portion of the backboard is missing, thus no label. Parts of the feet are missing. The glass tablet is by Moberg and done on the original glass. Ht 28"; (3) CASE: Original finish; Worn or rough, with some veneer loss. DIAL: Original; Flaking at Winding/Screw Holes; Flaking at Center Arbor. MOVEMENT: Original. LABEL: Original. TABLETS / GLASSES: Original with American Eagle Fenn glass as the center tablet,. PENDULUM: Original. HANDS: Original. WEIGHTS: Absent. HEIGHT: 30 1/2". NOTE: This clock has several issues. The case backboard has been significantly altered or replaced. The support brackets for the calendar mechanism have been removed from the backboard as have the support brackets for the time & strike movement. There is no minute hand or calendar hand. Ht 30 1/2"
