Condition Report For Lot# 940:
mahogany round band case is very nice with an old and possibly original finish. Half-round molding has some shrinkage cracks. Single piece pine backboard with a cutout to make room for the bell. Movement is attached to the case with a single screw through the back plate Original painted dial has general wear to the numbers and is attached to the head with two L turns. Hands are original. Bottom tablet (escape of the Constitution) is original with some minor loss. The throat glass is a later restoration. The original, but broken throat glass from which the restoration was copied, is included. Finial is old. Interesting label on the inside of the base most likely from a repair man that reads: "S. Adams, Milltown, ME, Clockmaker and Repair". Milltown, ME is near Calais, ME. Ht. 34.5"
