Condition Report For Lot# 878:
the case has its original finish nicely rubbed down with split above of rear right foot on restored with new bracing and high quality dovetailed craftsmanship on plinth. Note it is likely the plinth was cut down at some time to allow standing the clock in a short celing, then the bracket and tall feet were later crafted to disguise the loss. There is a repair on the cutout crest and a restoration to age crack on hood door. The well engraved brass dial is in good condition with slight darkening (could stand re-silvering). The weights are a replacement and the pendulum is original. Shipman was apprenticed to the famous clockmaker Thomas Harland also of Norwich, Connecticut. This movement has the unique Harland-style plate pillars. Ht 89"
