Condition Report For Lot# 569 :
See Tran Duy Ly's "Waterbury Clocks and Watches" page 402 for a very similar Jerome patent shelf clock case, but different movement. This case is rosewood with original finish. Finials on our clock do NOT belong. The original painted dial has a clear finish that has been applied and shows minor wear at the winding arbors and screw mounting holes. The hands appear to be original. The door appears to have original glasses that have some restoration and black paint applied to the back side. However, the door frame may not be original and there is no label attesting to the Jerome case patent, usually found on the back of the door. This was one of Chauncey Jerome's 1857 patent cases which Waterbury manufactured. They did not always use the Jerome patent label. Ht 23"
