Each watch was numbered sequentially and represented an individual month of the 50 years. This was one of the most extravagant and expensive watches that had ever been made with highly unusual 12K solid gold plates (originally intended to be 14K but changed for engineering purposes) and was meant to compete with the Edward Howard by Howard Watch Co. and the Premier Maximus by the American Waltham Watch Co. It retailed for $500, equivalent to $15000 to $20000 today. Gruen promoted this watch as, "the priceless possession of a few", which was adopted as the title of a well known NAWCC Bulletin Supplement (please see this supplement for reference). This is a scarce two star watch in Gilbert, Shugart and Engle's "The Complete Price Guide to Watches".
Estimate: $5000 - $7000
