Condition Report For Lot# 1034:
other than wear to the case gilding on the very top, this time piece is in excellent original condition. In the early 1900s, the French sought to offer a product to compete with German 400 day clocks. In 1908, J. Claude Grivolas of St. Cloud, France, was issued Swiss Patent #43059 for a year running torsion pendulum clock. Although we see little difference from Harder's original German patent, the Swiss apparently saw enough difference to issue the patent. Note Grivolas plates are round, and are wound from the front, like virtually all French clocks. There is a chip in top right corner of rear beveled glass, rest is fine; dial is fine. Ht 13"
